Rescue by rope

Project No. FF-FP 0223

Status:

completed 09/2006

Aims:

Rescue of helpless persons - for example from immobilised elevators and funiculars - by rope is associated with high riscs and strain. These were to be minimised by optimization of organisation, method and technical equipment.

Activities/Methods:

Risc assessment, ergonomical configuration including organization, qualification and procedure

Results:

For the today's typical rescue- and salvage processes we developed standardized processes and defined them in there validity fields. For an evaluation of all rope supported activities we developed a procedure for risk analysis. Additionally for the practical application, we developed a risk analysis which makes it possibility to choose quickly the appropriate rescue workers and equipment. The today's commercial used rescue equipment were recorded and evaluated in a catalog. For the planner of operations we developed organization models, which were modified for the member enterprises of the German Berufsgenossenschaften responsible for the sectors Metal, Chemistry and Trams. Because of the today's deficits in the rescue education we developed an education concept, which defines evaluation criteria and minimum requirements. For the education concept implementation in branch specific teaching programs we developed an additional methodology. The participated institutes of the German BGs developed a catalog of corporal burden and psychological stress factors. By means of this catalog it is possible to rate rescuers work load. In a next step should be a documented user manual developed, with whom enterprises could realize there rope supported operations.
