Dermal Penetration and Absorption of Hazardous Chemicals

Project No. IPA 63

Status:

ongoing

Aims:

The resorption of hazardous substances via the skin and their penetration into the body can cause toxicologically relevant concentrations in the human body alone and in combination with inhalative resorption and other uptake mechanisms. Within the project, an assessment of dermal absorption and penetration will be possible by combining different in vivo and in vitro methods.

Activities/Methods:

Use of various methods to estimate dermal absorption and penetration (Franz chamber, microdialysis, exposure laboratory studies).
