Comments on the combination of protective clothing with PPE against falls from a height

When protective clothing is combined with PPE against falls from a height, the protective function of the protective clothing could be lost in the event of a fall. The loss of the function may however occur slowly and insidiously; an example is a reduction in the circulation of air within a protective suit owing to the safety harness worn tightly against the body. The integration of harnesses into chemical protective suits and other working clothing may be advantageous (DGUV Regel 112-198 (to date: BGR/GUV-R 198) governing the use of personal protective equipment against falls from a height, March 2011, Section 5.3.1.5 at www.dguv.de/fb-psa, in German).
