The aim of the project was to design a technology-supported teaching-learning environment as an instrument for school-related accident prevention in the initial, in-service and further training of teachers teaching physical education (PE). The development included nationwide empirical findings on student accidents in PE and school sports as well as already existing materials and strategies for school accident prevention. The study took the pedagogical-didactic and health-psychological perspectives into account. The project also focused on developing a procedural model for the accident insurance institutions to ensure a high level of system usability and content usability in blended learning scenarios for knowledge. This was done with the aim to reduce accidents and injuries in school sports, regardless of time and place. The main focus was the technology-supported transfer of safety pedagogical knowledge and rules of conduct in school sports as well as the sustainable and long-term integration of related measures in the training and further education of teachers. The target groups were primarily the prospective and PE-teachers as well as decision makers in schools and universities.
The project followed an integrative interdisciplinary approach characterized by a mixed-method design. The basis of the web-based self-study course is a systematic document analysis on the question of what knowledge is already available in digital form on the part of the accident insurance institutions and how this knowledge is prepared and communicated in the initial, in-service and further training of sports teachers in the federal states of Germany. Based on this, the contents of the analyzed educational offerings were to be digitally processed, taking into account human-centered procedural models, and integrated into a web-based self-learning course with a focus on accident prevention in school sports. This was linked to appropriate evaluation heuristics to ensure sustainability and transferability to teacher training. This process was accompanied by a formative evaluation. The development work here followed the intended process model for human-centered design of digital teaching/learning systems.
The project was able to generate the following central results:
