Practical facilities

The IAG offers a perfect balance of theory and practice. We use more than 20 practical facilities for our research,
consulting and training activities. With special equipment for each specific field, they provide an ideal platform for
analysing, assessing and improving work situations and processes.
The seminars held in the facilities are very hands-on and based on real-life situations, resulting in a longer-lasting
learning effect and enhancing participants' ability to put what they learn into practice at work.

- Biofeedback
- Participants learn how to influence body functions that are normally impossible or very difficult to influence intentionally.
- Driving simulator
- Training on our driving simulator is an active way for participants to see how they respond to dangerous situations, giving them an opportunity to build on and apply what they have learnt during the seminar.
- Electrical engineering/control systems
- The participants learn strategies for ensuring protection in the case of a fault and conduct tests themselves on plant, machinery and equipment. The result is a higher awareness of the need for electrical safety.
- Ergonomics
- The ergonomics facility has several example workstations, which seminar participants can analyse, assess and optimise on the basis of ergonomic principles.
- Evaluation
- This facility demonstrates evaluation procedures, using examples of evaluation projects for campaigns, education, media and accident-prevention regulations.
- General psychology experiments
- Participants learn more about human information processing, experience psychological reactions and, in practical experiments, see for themselves the effects of such processes.
- Hazardous substances
- Seminars in the hazardous substances practical facility examine the problems posed by such substances using demonstration experiments and simulated work situations.
- Lighting
- The quality characteristics of lighting, the way in which they are tested and their effects on humans can be demonstrated and experienced in the practical facility for lighting.
- Metal
- Almost every type of hazard and exposure factor can occur in the field of metalwork. In our fully functional metal workshop, we show seminar participants the sources of those factors.
- Multi-purpose hall
- The size of the multi-purpose hall and the fact that most of its equipment is mobile mean that it can be used for a multitude of purposes, e.g. to reflect the conditions of a real production facility or for conferences and exhibitions.
- Noise
- In this facility, participants can perform experiments independently on machinery noise projection, room acoustics and enclosure of noise sources.
- Psychophysiology
- A facility in which various physical reactions to psychological processes can be measured. The results can be used, for example, to back up subjective assessments of psychological stress at the workplace.
- Road safety
- People involved in driver-suitability appraisals or seeking to act as advisors on driving suitability can prepare themselves for these duties in special seminars offered in this facility.
- Room environment
- This practical facility enables participants to "feel" a room’s environmental conditions and assess them using various parameters (environmental indices).
- Stress lab
- Measurements are taken to show seminar participants which physical functions react to stress and how they can be influenced.
- Test diagnostics
- In the practical facility for test diagnostics, participants can find out all about psychological diagnostics using standardised test methods as well as trying out different tests for themselves.
- Vibration
- In the vibration facility, participants determine and assess the vibration levels of hand-held machinery. The forklift truck provides them with hands-on experience of whole-body vibration.
- Wood
- In this fully equipped woodworking shop, trainers provide comprehensive instruction on all aspects of woodworking and participants have a hands-on opportunity to see how those aspects fit together.
