1. Violence is an issue that affects everyone!

Threats and violence are an unfortunate reality for many firefighters and emergency service workers. To send out a clear signal, the German social accident insurance institutions, and their umbrella association, the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV), have started the #GewaltAngehen (#FightingViolence) campaign.

2. The German social accident insurance must be included in the digitalisation strategy

Digitalisation of the healthcare sector needs to be accelerated. Two draft Acts have been proposed to achieve this. Which benefits and challenges will these Acts create for the German social accident insurance and for insured individuals?

3. Restructuring of the autonomous administration of the umbrella association

On 23 November, the Chairs of the Governing Committee and the General Assembly of the German Social Accident Insurance were elected. The chairs of the Governing Committee will remain in office for another term – the General Assembly will be represented by two new Chairs.

4. Better protection against lead and diisocyanates

Contact with lead and diisocyanates can be harmful to health. The EU Commission is hoping to counter this by amending two Directives, in order to protect workers.

5. Verbal abuse of volunteer firefighters is on the rise

Violence against emergency service workers is a well-known problem. The German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the Fire Services in Lower Saxony conducted a survey of volunteer firefighters. Which forms of violence did the emergency service workers experience most often?

6. For better OSH worldwide – successful cooperation with China

Prevention pays off! In line with this motto, the German Social Accident Insurance successfully concluded an EU-funded occupational safety and health project in China. The aim of the project was to strengthen cooperation between the EU and China in the area of labour and social affairs and to contribute to standardised social and occupational safety and health standards.
