Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the world of work. Occupational safety and health and the German social accident insurance institutions are also grappling with the impacts of AI. DGUV Kompakt spoke with Dr Stefan Hussy, Director General of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV), about projects that have already been put into action, the potentials of AI and necessary regulations.

Slip, trip and fall accidents are one of the most common accidents at work and are often underestimated. They can lead to serious injuries and can even be fatal. The ENTRAPon project funded by the German social accident insurance aims to help to identify such accidents at an early stage and prevent them using artificial intelligence.

The number of occupational accidents continues to be lower than it was before the coronavirus pandemic. This is shown by the provisional figures from the German social accident insurance institutions. In an infographic, DGUV Kompakt compares the accident figures and the figures for occupational diseases in the first half of 2022 with those in the first half of 2023.
