In its activities, the IAG responds to companies' needs for analysis, assessment and shaping of working conditions. This particularly includes how jobs need to be designed for ageing workers, and also the topical issue of mental stresses at the workplace.
Current social developments such as Industry 4.0, globalization, etc. lead to changes in the world of work and in turn increasingly to new forms of employment. Together with its sister institute, the IFA, and individual accident insurance institutions, the IAG is studying whether and if so how risk assessment must be adapted to such forms of employment and to some extent personalized. Development of the igaCheck instrument was among the measures for assessment of the working conditions.
The major area of compliance with statutory requirements and assessment of working conditions within the IAG's seminar programme covers the topics relevant in this respect. Among the topics included are exposure to hazardous substances at the workplace, ergonomic workplace design, climate, lighting, noise, vibration, and mental stresses.
A topical issue and one for which for consulting is regularly requested concerns mental stresses in the context of risk assessments. IAG Report 1/2013 has been published on this issue and provides information on risk assessments of mental stresses and introductory advice.
IAG events address topical developments in OSH-related subjects, such as changes to legislation, standards or the body of regulations of the accident insurance institutions. The prevention experts of the accident insurance institutions meet together to discuss topical issues.
