Aims:

Development of general measuring device for particle size of an aerosol spray; determination and collection of APFs of widespread lacquers and adhesives and application techniques.

Activities/Methods:

Experiment; determination of particle size in aerosols by Fraunhofer-light deflecting spectrography; variation of materials and application techniques

Results:

Measured values (proportion thorakal fraction to inhalable aerosol) for eleven lacquers and five glueing mixtures, applicated in four ways (HVLP, highpressure, airmix, airless); main parameters are spraying technology and material, less determining are geometric parameters of measuring and deviations from steady state. Correlation of APF to the proportion thoracic/inhalable like given in TRGS 430 is not suitable for praxis, proposal for improvement.
