IFA test laboratory for grinding tools
Grinding tools are used extensively in industry and manual trades for treating surfaces and for separating and cutting objects. Since a break or failure of the grinding tool can present a severe hazard to people and machinery due to the high levels of energy released, high standards are placed on the mechanical and breaking strength of grinding tools in the appropriate European safety standards and the national accident prevention regulation BGR 500 "Betreiben von Arbeitsmitteln" ["Operating of work equipment", in German only] Part 2, Chapter 2.25 (former accident prevention regulation "Grinding and brushing tools"). The BGR 500 can be viewed in the database of regulations of the German Social Accident Insurance, in German only.
The test laboratory for grinding tools conducts the necessary safety tests on all types and sizes of grinding tools, including on:
- Bonded abrasive products
- Coated abrasives
- Superabrasives
- Brush tools
- Guards for grinding machines.
