Development of a catching harness with a higher degree of acceptance
Sector: electrical engineering
Type of hazard: mechanical hazards
Catchwords: personal protective equipment, hazard of falls and falls from a height, ergonomics
Status: completed 12/1997
Financed by: Berufsgenossenschaft der Feinmechanik und Elektrotechnik
Research institution(s): Bergische Universität/Gesamthochschule Wuppertal, Fachbereich Sicherheitstechnik
Description, key words:
Improved catching harness (against headlong fall)
Aims:
Serious injuries as a consequence of fall accidents because harnesses were not worn; a preliminary project exposed ergonomic deficiencies which had a negative influence on acceptance. Goal: development of a catching harness with integrated fall cushioning which, as a result of its construction and weight, leads to a considerable increase in user acceptance.
Activities/methods:
Development on the basis of the fall geometry results and impact load and subjective details concerning comfort
