Column model for chemical substitutes

According to the German ordinance on hazardous substances, employers are held to substitute hazardous chemicals by other substances representing a lower risk to workers' health. The Institut für Arbeitsschutz der Deutschen Gesetzlichen Unfallversicherung (IFA) has developed the so-called column model to provide industry with a practical aid for the identification of possible substitutes. Only little information on the products is needed to carry out the assessment by means of this table.
