Round-robin tests of the IFA
Since 1989, the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the German Social Accident Insurance (IFA, formerly
BGIA) has been providing round-robin tests for all dangerous substance laboratories and measuring stations for the
purpose of self-examination and for the external presentation of quality standards within these laboratories. The
round-robin tests are conducted to conform to the requirements of ISO Guide 43 and of DIN EN ISO/IEC 17043. Any
interested laboratories anywhere in the world may participate.
The IFA is a member of the Euro-Proficiency Testing Steering Committee (EPTS), and successful participation in the
round-robin tests is recognised throughout Europe. IFA is also one of the approved PT providers for the Industrial
Hygiene Laboratory Accreditation Program offered by AIHA Laboratory Accreditation Programs, LLC in the USA.
