You are an OHS expert dealing with machinery standardization and you are facing the problem of integrating ergonomics?
EUROSHNET would like to offer you a two hours European webinar on “Ergonomics requirements in type C machinery standards” on November 15, 2016, from 10:00 to 12:00 am.
You can participate to this webinar for free from your office without travelling!
Background: Integrating prevention into the design of work equipment is a major issue for standardization experts. The Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC includes in its article 1.1.6 requirements for ergonomics which should be detailed by standards. Therefore, type C standards should consider ergonomic requirements into the design of machines in order to prevent physical load, especially musculoskeletal disorders.
However, standards dealing with "ergonomics" for machines in general, so-called type B standards, cover the spectrum of ergonomic issues only in part. Furthermore, type B standards often remain unknown or are misunderstood by the type C standard experts, as they do not necessarily have expertise in ergonomics. As a whole, the issue of ergonomics is not easy to deal with when writing technical requirements.
Thus, there are two needs: type B standards should be improved and experts participating in the drafting of type C standards need to be better informed.
