DGUV Test: Certificates
Explanations to the types of certificates
For more than 40 years, the Testing and Certification Bodies in DGUV Test have been testing products on the basis of the Equipment and Product Safety Act as well as on the basis of the EC-directives and other safety and health requirements. Depending on the product and in some cases on the wish of the manufacturer, the issued certificate can be one of the following:
GS-Test certificate (GS)
The product is subject to the Equipment Safety Act and has the permission to be marked with the GS label.
EC-Type Test Certificate (EG)
The product is subject to an EC-directive that intends an EC-type test for this product. Together with this certificate
no label is going to be issued.
DGUV Test Certificate / BG-Test Certificate (BG)
It concerns a component or a partial aspect, for example by testing noise or vibration
or
The manufacturer prefers the DGUV Test label to the GS label.
In this case the product has the permission to be marked with the DGUV Test label. In some cases an addendum is added
to the DGUV Test mark.
Type Test Certificate (BM)
The product is subject to an EC-directive but there is no EC-type test intended for this product. Together with this
test certificate no label is going to be issued.
Marking Permission (ZG)
Supplementary to an EC-type test certificate or a type test certificate. Together with this permission the DGUV Test
label is issued
Quality Management System (QS)
The certification of Quality Management Systems takes place according to the international standards ISO 9001 or to the
requirements of the European directives.
In short:
GS = GS Test Certificate
DGUV Test Certicficate / BG = BG Test Certificate
EG = EC-Type Test Certificate
BM = Type Test Certificate
ZG = Marking Permission
PU = Certificate of Adequacy
PB = Test Certificate (for special purposes)
QS = certified Quality Management System
ET = EuroTest Certificate
