The second set of guidelines to the new machinery directive has published

The new EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC is applicable to all machines brought into circulation in the European Union from 29 December 2009. 

In order to achieve a uniform understanding and application of the machinery directive, the European Commission, in conjunction with the Member States, has drafted guidelines to accompany the directive. The first set of guidelines was published at the end of 2009. 

Now the second set has come out, with commentaries on Annexes III to XI. In Annex I, a few errors were corrected and the section on chains and ropes was revised in order to better explain the practical application of the requirements. Many suggestions contributed by the testing and certification offices of DGUV Test were incorporated into the guidelines. The guidelines are currently available only in English. They will be made available as online version on the web pages of the European Commission in order to facilitate updates.
