Standards relating to the new Machinery Directive, 2006/42/EC
14.09.2009
European standards play an important role for machinery manufacturers, enabling them to build safe and health-friendly machinery.
Due to the changes brought about by the new Machinery Directive, 2006/42/EC, all European harmonised standards have had to be revised. Many standards bodies have now completed the revision process. The European Commission therefore published an initial list o fstandards relating to the Machinery Directive in the EU Journal 2009/C 214 of 8 September 2009.
If machinery is produced in accordance with these harmonised standards, the state authorities assume that it complies with the safety and health requirements set out in the Machinery Directive. However, this only applies to the requirements covered by the respective standard. A separate column in the list gives details of any limitations to the scope of the and the period.
