Comparison of CE mark and certification marks

The GS mark and the DGUV Test mark can be awarded by an independent testing and certification body following successful testing and certification. But how do they differ from the CE mark, which is compulsory for certain products, and what to the three different marks mean?

DGUV Test has revised its DGUV Test Information Sheet no. 3, "Comparison of the CE mark and certification marks", and brought it into line with the German Product Safety Act, which replaced the Equipment and Product Safety Act with effect from 1 December 2011.
