Insured persons and companies

• In 2010, over 75.5 million people in Germany were insured against work-related, commuting and school accidents and against occupational diseases. This figure includes around 17.1 million children in schools, nursery schools and after-school care centres, and students in higher education.
  
• In 2010, 3.9 million companies and educational institutions fell within the responsibility of the DGUV members, including 3.3 million companies in the industrial sector and almost 137,000 educational institutions covered by the pupil accident insurance.
