BG-PRÜFZERT: News on Conformity Assessment and Product Safety
First certificates issued for full quality assurance systems pursuant to the EC Machinery Directive
A manufacturer of vehicle servicing lifts and a manufacturer of earth-moving equipment have received the first certificates from BG-PRÜFZERT for full quality assurance systems pursuant to the new Machinery Directive.
GS-certified cargo nets
Lashing nets are a quick solution for load restraint. Now for the first time, such nets have passed GS testing and can be labelled with the GS mark ("Geprüfte Sicherheit" = "Tested Safety") from BG-PRÜFZERT. The GS mark gives purchasers a direct indication that the nets meet demanding safety requirements.
Declaration of Conformity and Declaration of Incorporation as specified in EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
Manufacturers have to issue an EC Declaration of Conformity for each machine. In a new information sheet, BG-PRÜFZERT informs manufacturers and buyers of machinery what content the declarations are required to have.

Harmonised standards relating to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
On 29 December 2009, when application of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC became compulsory, an updated list of the harmonised standards relating to the Directive was published in EU Official Journal C 321.

On 29 December 2009, the new EC Machinery Directive, 2006/42/EC, came into effect as the legal basis for placing machinery on the EEA market for the first time.
Presumption of conformity for DIN EN 954-1 extended by two years
On 7/8 July 2009, the European Machinery Committee determined that manufacturers that apply DIN EN ISO 13849-1 benefit from the presumption of conformity even if the machinery product standards still refer to EN 954-1.
A+A Trade Fair 2009: a resumé on product safety
At 2009s A+A event, the Expert Committee on PPE again formed trade-fair commissions with Düsseldorfs district government, in consultation with the trade-fair centres management. Teams comprising one representative from the district government and one from the Expert Committee visited a total of 223 exhibitors.
Tested blended learning program in occupational safety and health (OSH)
The BGAGs testing and certification body launched a new service in November, offering testing and certification of e-learning programs. It is aimed at vendors of electronic instruction tools.
Updated codes of rules for testing published
In October, the testing and certification body of the Expert Committee on Electrical Engineering published four revised codes of rules for testing and made them available for download.
